Driver CDL Class A and Fleet Trucks
Experienced, qualified, dependable Class A truck driver is working in tandem with our landscape construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting, loading, and unloading equipment, and or hard goods and plant material confirming the accuracy and safety of delivery. Performs safety checks on vehicles and equipment, checks that all components are functioning correctly and reports and deficiencies to the Summerhill in-house mechanic. Must be an efficient and accountable professional with a clean driving record.
Responsibilities
Fully understand how to operate and safely drive the assigned delivery vehicles
Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs. Pull a towed weight under 10,000 pounds.
Ensure the trailer hitch is appropriately and securely attached to the tractor unit
Ensure contents are correctly secured inside of truck or trailer to prevent breakage or damage
Obtain signatures to confirm and complete pickup or deliveries with team, clients, suppliers
Assist the Summerhill team with safely and efficiently loading and unloading processes
Map delivery routes (GPS) to ensure timely deliveries and pickups
Strong Communication with all team members as required
Confirm the contents of each shipment load matches the order document. Call the main office with any discrepancies or damages
Notify managers of any significant maintenance or pickup/delivery issues encountered
Perform inspections of your vehicle before and following each trip
Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean and has required safety gear
Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
Track and report working hours if the punch in is not available
Adhere to company rules, regulations, handbook
Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
Comply with ICC and DOT regulations
Make safety a priority always
Required Knowledge/Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Valid Class A driver's license required
Clean driving record with no moving violations
Must pass a background check and drug test
Skilled and confident driver
Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
Ability to lift to 50 lbs. at a time
Able to operate the electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
Proficient using GPS and other routing systems, an innate sense of direction
Represent Summerhill at the highest level always, maintain a high level of composure and good stress management
Basic Microsoft Office entry knowledge and understanding, Google calendar access for pickup and delivery information.
