Hardware Support Engineer - Qualcomm Government Technologies
at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a Secret or Top-Secret clearance. Responsibilities
Performs component and system level debug and integration of RF, analog, and Digital systems, including circuit and system level tests, setup and execution of automated tests, setup and calibration of test racks, report generation, and presentation. Provides feedback and assistance to design engineers. Develops basic to moderately complex features and components of hardware designs in line with product proposals or roadmaps, with minimal supervision. Applies basic design rules and processes for electronic hardware, equipment, and/or integrated circuitry independently. Reads device specification sheets and interprets details required to design various hardware features. Identifies basic ways to optimize tests and/or hardware designs by evaluating device performance under limited operating conditions. Assists in assessing complex design features to identify potential flaws, compatibility, and/or compliance issues with minimal supervision. Documents essential details about materials, components, chipsets, and assemblies; records and tracks changes to design accurately. Troubleshoots common issues with product designs, suggests solutions, and documents lessons learned. Provides basic technical input and support for internal customers, with some supervision. Acts as a tech lead on small projects with minimal guidance and owns the project outcome. Prepares accurate project schedules and participates in kickoff activities. Continuously learns about Qualcomm products and industry trends; seeks knowledge in relevant areas. Assists in specialized analyses (e.g., feasibility studies, signal integrity, power integrity, teardown analyses) under direction of more experienced engineers; supports development and validation of System on Chip, electronic parts, components, and packaging; collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve yield, productivity, and quality. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience, or Associate's degree and 3+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience, or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience. Completed advanced degrees may substitute for up to two years of work experience. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field. Certification in Electronics or related area. Military experience or training in electronics (Rank E5+ 2 years). 4+ years of experience with digital hardware, software, and/or analog RF troubleshooting and debugging. 4+ years of experience in a lab environment. 2+ years in a leadership role with or without direct reports. 2+ years of experience interacting with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above). 2+ years experience with circuit design (digital, analog, RF) and with schematic capture and circuit simulation software. 2+ years experience with hardware design and measurement instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools). 5+ years experience with circuit and system level tests and related activities, including automated tests, test-rack calibration, and reporting. 5 years experience in wireless, portable, or consumer electronics development. $40.77 - $61.15 per hour. The pay range reflects minimum to maximum for the posted location.
