GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Under direction of the Manager of PET Production Chemistry, the PET Radiopharmaceutical Manufacturing Chemist provides a variety of services to support the safe and efficient production and use of PET radiopharmaceuticals for research and clinical diagnostic use at MGH. The incumbent will be involved in all aspects of the day to day operation of the PET radiopharmaceutical production facility operating under cGMP, including radiochemical production area, analytical laboratory and clean room operations. Responsibilities
Under cGMP’s, will be responsible for the production of PET radiopharmaceuticals including: setup and preparation of chemicals and reagents; operation, cleaning, and maintenance of automated radiochemistry synthesis units. Under cGMP’s, will be involved in the aseptic preparation of PET radiopharmaceuticals in a cGMP clean room environment, including preparation of sterile filtration assemblies, environmental monitoring, and inoculation of sterility media. Under cGMP’s, will be involved in the quality control and release of PET radiopharmaceuticals (HPLC, TLC, GC, biological and radiometric tests). Maintenance of cGMP clean room and production facility; inventory management and stocking; packaging of radiopharmaceuticals for transport. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related discipline; 4–6 years of directly related experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree accepted. Experience: Preferred: experience in cGMP pharmaceutical production; handling of radioactive materials, aseptic preparation and clean room experience. Skills: TLC, HPLC, GC; Microsoft Office; understanding of universal precautions and infection control; strong written and verbal communication; attention to detail; ability to lift 60 lbs; ability to multitask in high-pressure environments.
