Overview
The Assurance Experienced Senior will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day \"in-charge\" duties of planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up to include preparing financial statements with disclosures, applying most areas of GAAP as necessary and documenting, validating, testing, and assessing various control systems. This position is also responsible for acting as the client contact for basic questions and information and may be involved in reviews and agreed-upon procedure engagements. Job Duties
Control Environment: Applies knowledge of factors influencing the effectiveness or mitigation of risks in policies and procedures; acts as auditor in charge to manage day-to-day audit conduct, ensure field work is completed on time and within budget; document, validate, and assess internal control systems; recommend improvements to client internal controls and accounting procedures; supervise audit staff and review workpapers. GAAP: Applies knowledge of GAAP principles, communicates financial statement disclosure requirements, applies new pronouncements, analyzes and discusses alternative GAAP when needed with the Manager, Senior Manager, and engagement partner; identifies complex accounting issues for resolution. SEC and PCAOB: Applies SEC and PCAOB principles; reviews client SEC filings for accuracy and completeness; prepares communications to Client and Audit Committee; plans and executes Section 404 internal control audits. GAAS: Applies GAAS, formulates audit plan, applies skepticism, determines testing scope, uses audit manuals, documents deviations from policy, and suggests improvements to internal controls and related communications. Methodology: Applies BDO standards and audit approach to deliver quality services; uses tools and technology to execute audits efficiently and completely; identifies and proposes outcomes to critical issues. Research: Uses authoritative sources to inform conclusions; conducts routine and complex accounting research; documents findings and informs audit strategy with the engagement manager. Project Management: Coordinates planning, fieldwork, and review with audit team and client; assists in developing audit engagement budgets and resources; drafts planning memoranda and audit programs; assigns responsibilities and monitors budget versus actuals. Supervisory Responsibilities and Other Duties: Supervises a team of 1–5 audit professionals; provides performance feedback and coaching; performs other duties as required. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, required; OR Bachelor’s degree in another focus area with CPA certification; Master’s degree in Accountancy preferred. Three or more years of prior relevant audit experience; basic supervisory experience preferred. Eligible to sit for CPA exams upon starting employment; actively pursuing completion of the exams. Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with assurance applications and research tools preferred. Proven verbal and written communication skills; people development and delegation skills; executive presence to act as primary client contact; ability to manage all stages of the audit and prepare/review financial statements with disclosures in accordance with GAAP.
