The CSIS Chair on India and Emerging Asia Economics aims to unlock the full potential of U.S. partnerships with India and the broader Asia region, expanding to emerging economies across Asia to foster U.S. economic security, development, and business engagement. CSIS is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions for global security and prosperity. Responsibilities
Managing the Senior Adviser’s office, including preparation for upcoming meetings, travel, light scheduling, and expense reports. Scheduling meetings, including with officials in India. Maintaining the program’s budgeting/finance by working with the CSIS Finance & Accounting team to develop new project budgets, update projections, and advise on resource reallocation within projects. Leading the organization of events (4–6 large events per year and a dozen smaller events). Most events are at CSIS HQ in Washington, DC; some may be in NY, India, or other locations. Tracking fundraising efforts, managing multiple potential projects and renewals, and maintaining a streamlined process for tracking. Introducing and deploying project management tools and AI-powered tools to improve operational efficiency and tracking of engagements and deliverables. Managing the program’s database and increasing subscribers and followers. Qualifications
At least four years of experience in operations-focused roles in public policy or related sectors. Solid knowledge of the India policy environment and key players in U.S.–India relations. Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Ability to work remotely with home-office capability; current arrangement includes in-office Mon–Thu with optional Fridays. Experience with administrative tasks and attention to detail in databases and event logistics. Eligible to work in Washington, DC and able to commit at least 35 hours per week. Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and manage competing priorities under tight deadlines. Willingness to travel to India approximately twice per year for project-related work, including travel to state capitals. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree desirable. Hindi language ability is not required but highly desirable. Compensation This role pays between $58,000 and $70,000, depending on experience.
