Overview
Descript’s vision is to put video in every communicator’s toolkit. Descript lets you edit video by editing docs and slides, and increasingly by just asking AI. We are building a new way to record or generate videos that look and sound good, with unique design, technology, and business challenges requiring strong product management. We’re looking for a Product Manager to help build the future of video editing with AI. You’ll work with a small, flat, highly collaborative team of PMs, AI researchers, engineers, designers, and marketers. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI technology in a product users love and to grow quickly in your PM craft. Responsibilities
Develop a deep understanding of our customers, market, and product opportunities Develop a deep understanding of the landscape of modern AI models and make decisions on where Descript should build, buy, partner, or contribute to the field Drive company-wide AI initiatives that have meaningful business and user impact and advocate for our AI strategy Own and drive the roadmap for AI models at Descript, from idea generation through execution, evaluation, and iteration Collaborate with AI research, engineering, design, and other product teams to ship AI models that delight users and deliver meaningful business impact Qualifications
You have 2 or more years of product management experience , ideally with a product of technical complexity that incorporates generative AI models You start with the customer : You care deeply about understanding customers, with experience in customer discovery and defining features that solve real problems You are a fog sculptor : You can navigate ambiguous problems, ask smart questions, and translate ideas into action You care about craft : You sweat the details and aim for a product people love to use You are funny, creative, maybe kind of weird : Descript values a playful culture and a sense of humor About Descript
Descript is building a simple, intuitive, fully-powered editing tool for video and audio — an editing tool built for the age of AI. We are a team of 150 with a proven CEO and backing from major investors including OpenAI, Andreessen Horowitz, Redpoint Ventures, and Spark Capital. Descript is positioned with product-market fit and the raw materials for growth, with a passionate user community, strong product, and large market.
