CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Engineer in the Boston, MA office to support a wide variety of environmental projects. The preferred candidate will have field experience at MCP, Superfund and other contaminated sites, run complex field programs, and prepare planning documents and reports for environmental characterization and remediation projects. The role includes evaluating remedial approaches for contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater, and advancing toward project technical leadership or project management. Responsibilities
Managing tasks on large projects or phases of small projects. Performing surface and subsurface soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field data collection to support environmental and water supply projects. Working on a variety of assignments, including field studies, research investigations, construction oversight, data interpretation and evaluation, or report preparation. Performing engineering design for environmental projects, including preparation of drawings, specifications, calculations, and developing operation, maintenance, and monitoring plans. Performing remedial construction oversight and quality control. Reviewing draft assessments and calculations for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Learning project management techniques and the CDM Smith management system. Developing external client interaction and marketing skills. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. Professional Engineer (PE) license. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required (travel frequency contingent on duties and project demands). Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Preferred Qualifications
MA Licensed Site Professional (LSP) and/or experience with project management methodologies including budgeting, planning, control/assurance, software, and finance concepts. Experience in solid waste/landfill/permitting, design and construction for at least 5 years, with a track record of high-value client relationships and ability to win work regionally in New England. Field experience at MCP, Superfund, mining, and other contaminated sites; ability to run complex field programs and prepare planning documents and environmental characterization/remediation reports. Willingness to supervise and mentor junior engineers and engage in construction management; ability to travel for field work (day or overnight). Additional Details
