Staff Engineer - PWB Technologist

GE Aerospace The Staff Engineer – PWB Technologist is the subject matter expert for printed wiring board (PWB) / printed circuit board (PCB) design and technology. This role supports the avionics hardware team through technical depth, supplier relationships and development, a problem solving mindset, developing standards and best practices, and industry engagement. The role will report to the Platform Hardware Engineering Leader. Roles And Responsibilities

Guiding technology growth path for High Density Interconnect (HDI) board designs. Evaluate, develop, and qualify PWB/PCB suppliers. Develop and deploy training for circuit designers and board layout personnel. Maintain design practices and standard work, best practices, tool standardization. Drive Design for Manufacturability objectives within PWB designs Proactive engagement with business needs. Manage critical designs/projects through the development and procurement path. Hands-on problem solving. Engagement with industry through technology seminars and committee participation. Participation in circuit board design and drawing reviews. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college in Engineering with 12+ years of professional experiences with PWB/PCB technology. This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment. Desired Characteristics

Master’s degree from an accredited university/college in Engineering. Experience with Aviation / Avionics industry and qualification requirements. Deep knowledge of IPC standards. Persistence and ability to maintain an uncompromising balance with thoroughness and a quick-to-action style of execution & accountability. Strong professional technical writing and technical communication proficiency. Ability to break down complex problems and apply critical thinking. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Identify risks and develop mitigation plans. Effective persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions. Willingness to travel to GE sites and suppliers, 10-20%. Additional Information
