Overview

Principal Security Engineer II
will collaborate closely with network engineering and technical operations to implement and optimize security technologies, enhancing security operations and service delivery across our footprint. You will evaluate security strategies, develop new operational countermeasures, and their deployment within the customer premise equipment space. You will serve as Spectrum's information security expert internally for the product space to engineering, architecture, and operations environments as well as representing the company externally to law enforcement as needed. You will also lead the incident response process for network security and technical operations in recovery and mitigation while communicating event statuses to executive leadership.
Responsibilities
Design and implement processes and controls that acquire and correlate security relevant system and application log data to alert and report on potential security events.
Perform vulnerability assessments on customer premise equipment including modems and routers.
Develop security standards for Spectrum and industry related standards bodies and organizations.
Develop product governance standards and testing for various IoT devices.
Develop and implement system logic to detect security threats.
Coordinate Spectrum's incident response process for cyber incidents related to customer owned customer premise equipment or IoT devices.
Review work plans and design and advise on improvements based on security requirements.
Ensure compliance with security standards, policies and procedures.
Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations.
Mentor and guide the work of senior technical security staff.

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum Required Qualifications
Education:
Master's or bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field or related work experience
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (UNIX, Cisco, Juniper)
Experience:
10+ years of IT/network experience
10+ years of Information security experience
7+ years of Information security operations experience
Demonstrated experience in managing information security events and incidents for large and sophisticated networks
Skills:
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Advanced expert knowledge of network and system security vulnerabilities and exploits
Understanding of preventing security exploits, detecting attacks and anomalies, reverse engineering, and incident response
Advanced knowledge of industry specifications and standards (NIST, CSRIC, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, DNS, Routing, Ethernet, TCP/IP)
Advanced knowledge in network security design and architecture; forensic methodologies to investigate intrusions and coordinate response
Demonstrated leadership across functional boundaries; ability to build consensus and drive results
Ability to solve problems, balance priorities, and manage through complexity
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Master's or bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity
CISSP certification
Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH)
SANS GIAC certifications (GCIH, GCIA, GPEN, GCED)
Certified Forensics Examiner (CFE)
Experience:
Previous experience in a Security Operations team
Incident Response management
Skills:
Firewall, Intrusion Detection Systems, and router engineering
Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and log management tools
Computer forensics tools, such as Encase or FTK

The base pay for this position generally is between
$124,080.00 and $220,000.00 . The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
