Overview
ABM, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, is looking for a Chief Engineer. The Chief Engineer will lead the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) of infrastructure assets in an industrial setting. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, supervising union personnel, and ensuring all systems and facilities operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with ABM standards and clients’ expectations. The Chief Engineer will also be expected to perform hands-on work when necessary, stepping in to support the team during critical tasks or resource shortages. While not required to operate equipment daily, the role will provide technical support and oversight to vendors who operate the equipment day to day. Location: Cupertino, CA. Schedule: Mon-Fri Day Shift. Pay Range: $93.35/hr. The pay listed is the salary range for this position. An offer will vary based on education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data. This is a union position and as such will include union benefits in accordance with Local 39 CBA. Leadership & Supervision: Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance staff, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards. Training and Development: Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members. Planning and Task Management: Schedule and assign tasks based on operational priorities and staffing levels. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with union agreements, company policies, and safety regulations. Maintenance & Operations Oversight: Oversee CMMS implementation, maintenance scheduling, tracking, and reporting. Asset Inventory & Management: Catalog and maintain a comprehensive inventory of equipment and infrastructure assets. Critical Parts Inventory: Develop and maintain a robust inventory of critical spare parts for rapid response. Maintenance Documentation: Create and maintain detailed maintenance records in collaboration with onsite SMEs. Industrial Equipment Oversight: Provide technical support and oversight for conveyors, screw augers, and vibratory feeders; operate equipment when necessary to support the team. Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with vendors to ensure alignment with performance and safety standards. Facility Support Tasks: Perform general facility maintenance as needed. Planned Maintenance Coordination: Lead and coordinate planned shutdowns for major maintenance activities. Procedure Development: Develop and implement MOPs and SOPs for all equipment and systems. EHS Coordination: Partner with Clients Environmental Health and Safety teams to ensure operations meet safety and regulatory standards. Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or engineering, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of CMMS platforms and maintenance best practices. Demonstrated experience with industrial equipment such as conveyors, screw augers, and vibratory feeders. Familiarity with facility infrastructure and safety protocols. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners. Required experience in industrial equipment such as conveyors, screw augers, and vibratory feeders. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in high-tech or mission-critical environments; Certifications in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems; OSHA or other safety-related certifications.
