Backend Engineer at Quindar

$120,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr What You’ll Be Doing
You will be responsible for developing ground satellite operations software using Python and AWS services. Satellites are connected to as often as every 90 minutes; you will work with hundreds of satellites in this context. You will develop Python microservices deployed either to the cloud or to on-premise environments with a focus on scalability, security, cost, and performance of the software. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including satellite operators and other software engineers, to understand requirements, implement new features, and troubleshoot issues. Your strong knowledge of Kubernetes, AWS services, and software development best practices will help optimize resource utilization and automate processes, contributing to the efficient and reliable operations of thousands of satellites. You will primarily be responsible for developing backend software capabilities, with the possibility to contribute to DevSecOps and CI/CD tooling, and software architecture design and maintenance. This is a hybrid role with 2 days in office in Irvine, Seattle, or Arvada. Candidates will also be considered in the greater Washington D.C area. The role supports a flexible schedule with substantial remote work. Tech Skills
Proficiency in Python and Java or C++ Experience deploying and maintaining software in Kubernetes Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, EKS, CloudWatch, S3, EFS/EBS, EC2, and RDS Strong knowledge of containerized applications and serverless architecture Strong knowledge of designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting APIs services, distributed NoSQL and relational databases, caching systems, event-driven and multi-tier architectures Strong knowledge of task automation and CI/CD pipeline building with GitHub or GitLab Familiarity with Git and GitLab or similar framework for version control Soft Skills
Deep technical analysis and troubleshooting skills Independent self-starter; able to complete projects on time with minimal guidance A high standard for software maintainability, quality, resilience, and performance Strong cross-functional communication between frontend, backend engineers and product managers Background Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) 4+ years [professional] experience in backend development, DevOps, or related role. Professional experience can be replaced with a self-starter who has drive, the technical skills, and is obsessed with the product.
