Clearly convey and closely monitor individual network original programming vision plans Shape, articulate and promote network brands and needs to writers, producers, agents, managers, studio execs and distributors; petitioning, fielding, evaluating, re-crafting, passing and buying pitches Supervise all aspects of prep, production and post-production of original content, including live programming events Oversee all original content submissions, lead all show and script development and green-light process to production Collaborate with Head of Programming to manage development and programming budgets Create original viable concepts and manage their development; actively seek out and nurture new talent, new stories, new opportunities and new creative partnerships Evaluate and authorize hiring of all above-the-line creative personnel Bring creativity to both long-form and short-form content Evaluate and approve locations and any script alterations; assist Business Affairs in negotiations as needed Identify creative opportunities across different genres and platforms, including content for national and local networks/platforms Visit sets as needed; monitor all creative content including direction, performance, lighting, style, pace, production value, production design, hair & make-up, wardrobe, and provide producers with timely feedback Provide network notes on rough-cuts; approve locked cuts; oversee all music, sound mix, color correction, and visual effects (VFX); lead and shape promotion of programs as conducted by ancillary departments Supervise personnel within the Original Scripted Department and run departmental meetings Oversee all departmental documents and reports including status updates and production tracking Represent networks at forums, conferences, and other industry functions as needed Act as primary liaison within the networks to other internal departments, communicating regularly and shaping network-wide practices What you’ll need

BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred Generally, 10+ years experience in related field preferred What you’ll bring

Strong creative community relationships Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and proven organizational prowess Ability to evaluate content across various media formats, including linear national TV, local syndication, and streaming platforms Strong understanding of competitive landscape and potential co-production partners About Scripps
