This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of either our Santa Monica, Boston, or Denver office. Silicon Valley Bank’s Leveraged Finance & Sponsor Coverage team provides creative debt solutions to support private equity investments in the technology sector. Primary responsibilities include leading due diligence, underwriting, and execution of debt transactions with a secondary focus on portfolio management and private equity coverage. The ideal candidate will have a background in underwriting and executing transactions for Sponsor backed transactions in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities Underwriting, executing, and negotiating new transactions with a secondary focus on sponsor coverage and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will be able to execute transactions from initial data receipt to document negotiation and loan closing with assistance from associates and limited guidance from Directors/MDs. The team provides creative leveraged capital solutions to private equity clients in support of their investments in the technology sector. Debt process management - manage leveraged transaction processes from new opportunity introduction from Director/MD to loan closing Due Diligence - review target company and sponsor provided materials including historical financials, management presentations, CIMs, etc.; review 3rd party materials including Quality of Earnings Reports; assist associates with generating diligence request lists to cover questions arising from review of materials while identifying gaps in provided information Credit Memorandums - create credit memorandums to drive credit approval for new opportunities Financial Modeling - review financial models from associates to ensure accuracy with financial sponsor projections Present new opportunities to loan committee Prepare loan packages for approvals including utilization of existing bank systems Utilizes analysis and independent judgment to generate recommendations to Directors/MDs Reporting/Portfolio Management
Act as primary liaison for portfolio companies Coordinate with the appropriate internal personnel for banking product opportunities Work with associates to ensure timely and accurate reporting from portfolio companies Manage any amendment/M&A processes for portfolio companies Researches and analyzes information as directed including updating and maintaining portfolio analytics and credit statistics Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of credit analysis or leveraged lending experience, or High School Diploma or GED with 6 years of experience Preferred
4 or more years’ experience in either a leveraged finance, investment banking, or commercial finance role Formal credit training program preferred Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business degree Commercial Banking, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Sponsor Finance, Leveraged Finance Highly proficient at researching information and gathering pertinent items to identify trends and anomalies Strong understanding of financial accounting with financial modeling experience Strong organization and attention to details ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate Proven ability and highly skilled at developing strong positive relationships with external clients and internal partners Excellent communication skills capable of explaining information clearly and adapting delivery depending on audience Professional, thorough and organized with strong follow-up skills Excels in a team environment and proactively collaborates and acts as a leader with others to serve clients Demonstrates initiative, a commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to adapt to changing demands and requirements Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law.
