The University Police Department provides a full range of law enforcement services in support of the academic and public service missions of the University of California, serving a diverse community. We employ a mix of sworn peace officers, civilian staff, and student employees and offer a broad set of assignments and a public service experience. Position Summary

Involves protecting life and property, maintaining security and order, and preserving the general welfare of the organization. Engages in a variety of police activities such as patrolling, investigation, law enforcement, crime prevention and detection. Certified and conforms to the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST). Application review begins on 1/3/2025. Responsibilities

Attend and successfully complete the CA POST-certified Police Academy Complete the Basic Law Enforcement Academy, a 6-month intensive course preparing students for entry into the Police Department's field training program; includes academics, leadership, tactical skills, and physical readiness Administrative duties, including studying department regulations, communications, and timecard reporting Attend/staff department-wide training and special events Physical training and study of academy curriculum Required Qualifications

Basic knowledge in First Aid/CPR, campus streets, buildings, and parking lots, general law enforcement procedures, vehicle laws, and use of firearms Ability to observe situations analytically, impartially, and objectively; record pertinent information accurately and completely Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse community Education Level

High school diploma and/or equivalent certification/experience/training Licenses/Certification Details

Possess a valid California Driver's License Must complete a basic law enforcement training program and obtain certification Salary & Benefits

This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs/week) non-exempt career position, paid hourly and eligible for UC Benefits. The compensation range will be provided in the posting; offers consider experience, skills, education, licensure, and internal equity. The budgeted hourly rate is $48.51 (Step 1.0 of 1.0).
