BronxWorks is seeking passionate law graduates (July 2025 bar takers) and newly admitted attorneys to join our Fall 2025 class of Tenant Defense Program attorneys. This is an opportunity to step into the courtroom, develop litigation skills, and make a difference for Bronx families facing eviction. About BronxWorks and the Tenant Defense Program: BronxWorks has served the Bronx for over 50 years. In July 2024, BronxWorks became a Right to Counsel provider, expanding our Legal Services to ensure low-income tenants have representation to fight displacement. In less than a year, the program has helped families remain in their homes, stop evictions, and secure safe transitions when relocation is needed. We are building out our team to meet rising demand for housing defense in the Bronx. A brand-new home for a growing practice: We opened a new office space designed for the Tenant Defense Program, near Bronx Housing Court and Yankee Stadium, to support vigorous advocacy and client-centered work and a collaborative team culture. What We Offer
Immediate courtroom experience: Represent tenants from the first day, including intakes, motions, settlements, and hearings or trials. Build a program from the ground up: Your voice will shape a new Right to Counsel practice in NYC. Impactful legal work: Protect families from eviction, secure subsidies, and keep communities intact. Mentorship and professional development: Learn housing law litigation from experienced supervisors. Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive legal representation to tenants referred to BronxWorks through the Universal Access to Counsel initiative and other sources. Provide full legal representation, including advising on legal defenses, regular client communications, negotiations with outside counsel, motion practice, oral arguments, discovery, depositions, hearings, trials, and advocacy with government agencies. Develop expertise in housing court practice, housing programs and subsidies, and public benefits to secure favorable outcomes. Participate in court-based intake processes and conduct intakes.
