Front Desk Receptionist (Sacramento In-Person Volunteer Position)

Location: Sacramento Red Cross Office
Position Summary:
The Front Desk Receptionist at the Sacramento Red Cross office is the first point of contact for visitors, partners, and staff. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming environment, managing incoming communications, and supporting daily administrative operations to ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist visitors in a courteous and professional manner Answer incoming phone calls, respond to general inquiries, or route calls to the appropriate contact Keep the reception area clean, organized, and presentable at all times Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and deliveries Support administrative functions such as data entry, filing, and photocopying Provide general information to clients, visitors, and partners Follow established security procedures and maintain accurate visitor logs Qualifications:
Reliable transportation to and from the Sacramento Red Cross office Ability to commit to a consistent weekly shift and arrive on time Basic verbal and written communication skills Willingness to learn and take on a variety of administrative tasks Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is a plus, but not required Professional appearance and a positive, team-oriented attitude Work Environment:
Office setting with regular interaction with clients, visitors, and staff May involve extended periods of sitting and occasional lifting of office supplies We are happy to accommodate any physical limitations-please let us know how we can support you Time Commitment:
Schedule: Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one consistent shift per week. Shifts typically range from 4 to 7 hours with a lunch break. Example: Volunteering every Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Duration: We ask that volunteers commit to this role for a minimum of 6 months to ensure continuity and support for our team and visitors.
