Insight Global's healthcare and pension funds client is hiring for TWO (2) hybrid Business Systems Analysts! These are yearlong contracts with potentials for extension or conversion. This will be hybrid 3x a week onsite in Burbank.
The Business Analyst acts as the intermediary between the business and IT, using a deep understanding of business processes and technology to help business partners achieve their desired outcomes. This role will be key to understanding and documenting the capabilities needed to address business challenges and enabling technology to meet these challenges. This role will have a good understanding of agile methodologies and practices and will make use of that knowledge to drive projects.
The Business Analyst is responsible for reviewing assigned business processes from end-to-end to identify and address operational, financial and technological risks. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency. Responsibilities will include a full range of activities from leading small to mid-size projects to assisting other project managers on larger more complex projects related to business functions.
The business analyst role is a key role within the IT department as it bridges the divide between functional and technical resources helping to streamline the processes.
Business Needs Assessment: Partner with stakeholder groups to identify business needs, gather
requirements, and coordinate efforts to address them through technology and process improvements.
· Consultative Support: Act as a trusted advisor, providing consultative input on business-led
technology initiatives to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the IT department to ensure the efficient and
comprehensive delivery of business requirements, aligning solutions with stakeholder needs and
project objectives.
· Solution Design and Prototyping: Collaborate with business units to create prototypes and co-design
innovative solutions that enhance business processes and drive value.
· Industry and Technology Awareness: Proactively monitor industry, functional, and technology trends
to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
· Stock the Product Backlog: The business analyst should consistently add to the product backlog
by establishing epics, adding user stories that represent the scope of what needs to be
accomplished to improve the product.
· Groom the Product Backlog: Maintain the product backlog so that it remains an effective tool for the
team and not a burden. Business analysts should help in grooming the product backlog by considering
purpose, prioritizing the stories, organizing the stories, splitting epics into user stories, and ensuring a complete description of the solution.
· Requirements Gathering: Work closely with business partners to elicit high-level requirements, define user journeys, and capture detailed business needs, ensuring user-centric design and development.
· Stakeholder Engagement and Influence: Engage with business partners to influence project decisions, assess risks, and balance competing business demands to deliver optimal solutions.
· Consistency and Standards: Promote architectural consistency, usability standards, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle. Define and execute test cases to ensure quality and alignment with business expectations.
· Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for efficiency gains, process improvements, and product enhancements, driving initiatives that yield measurable benefits.
· Ownership and Accountability: Take ownership of assigned tasks and initiatives, driving them to successful completion with minimal oversight.
· Process Analysis and Design: Conduct comprehensive business and systems process analyses to facilitate design changes that align with organizational goals.
· Stakeholder Management: Balance and negotiate the needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders, ensuring alignment across departments.
· Agile Facilitation: Support and help run agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, demos, retrospectives, and sprint planning, fostering a collaborative and high-performing project environment.
· Quality Assurance (QA): Provide QA support as needed, ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards and business requirements.
· Project and Program Support: Contribute to a wide range of project and program-related activities, supporting initiatives that align with BRM goals and overall IT strategy.
Minimum qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field as well as
equivalent work experience
· 3 - 5 years of experience managing IT and/or business projects
· Must have experience working on large scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational
requests from the business
Preferred qualifications
· Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field as well as equivalent work experience
· Pension experience preferred
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
· Demonstrated knowledge of both traditional Waterfall and Agile/Lean methodologies
· Experience in converting business requirements and functional requirements to use cases, epics, and user stories with acceptance criteria
· Demonstrated ability to quantify resource requirements and measure and communicate proposed
project benefits
· Strong risk assessment, problem resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills
· Demonstrated ability to engage both developers and business partners to achieve target outcomes
· Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks at any given point, strong relationship building skills & communication skills
· Data analysis – Must have proficiency with SQL or Microsoft Excel
· Understanding of systems engineering concepts
