Job Title: Local Freight Driver
\As a local freight driver, you will be responsible for the pickup and delivery of cargo to and from various destinations usually within proximity of the consolidation/distribution center. You will also load and unload trailers utilizing the same techniques, technology, and procedures as a dock worker.
Key Responsibilities
\- Exercise independent judgment regarding the building and tearing down of the trailer to utilize time, resources, energy, and physical demands effectively and efficiently while complying with all weight distribution laws.
- Load and unload cargo in a timely manner to meet customer expectations.
- Operate a forklift as needed to assist with loading and unloading tasks.
- Perform various tasks ranging from check-in, tractor/trailer inspection, tractor setup, and the pickup and delivery of cargo in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Complete routine paperwork effectively and properly log loading sheets to ensure accurate records are maintained.
Requirements
\To qualify for this role, you must have:
- A Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker, and hazardous materials endorsements.
- At least 1 year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience.
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Have a good stable work record and a safe driving record.
- Pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and meet DOT medical requirements.
