DAT: Disaster Action Team-Trainee
Disaster Action Teams (DAT) provide 24-hour emergency response to local disasters, particularly house fires, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.
We are looking for compassionate individuals that want to help families that are affected by disasters of all sizes, from home fires to hurricanes. The bulk of our responses are home fires. We need people who are patient and are good listeners.
DAT Responders need to be able to do initial casework virtually, including over the phone and using video conferencing. We will provide training as to how to use the software, but you need to have access to a smartphone and or computer for this role and be comfortable with technology.
There will be occasional opportunities to respond in person, so we need DAT responders who are willing to respond in person. Responders who go in person must follow all COVID-19 protocols, including Cover-Distance-Clean.
Our volunteers are "on call" and must be able to commit to scheduled shifts.
