INTERACTION DESIGNER VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION Position Overview

1st Gen College Hub, an initiative dedicated to supporting first-generation college students, is seeking a talented and passionate Volunteer Interaction Designer. This role involves designing engaging and intuitive user interfaces for a comprehensive web and mobile platform aimed at offering personalized guidance, college search tools, financial aid information, mentorship programs, and more. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience, ensuring that the platform is accessible, user-friendly, and effective in helping students navigate the complexities of college preparation. Key Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with the UI/UX design team and web developers to create innovative interaction designs for web and mobile applications. Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences. Design and implement interactive features that enhance user engagement and satisfaction. Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and insights, using them to refine and improve interaction designs. Ensure that all designs adhere to accessibility standards and best practices, making the platform inclusive for all users. Work with front-end developers to ensure accurate implementation of interaction designs and animations. Participate in regular design reviews, presenting your work and providing constructive feedback to peers. Contribute to the development of design guidelines, best practices, and standards to maintain a consistent look and feel across the platform. Qualifications

Strong portfolio of design projects showcasing expertise in interaction design, particularly for web and mobile platforms. Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, InVision). Experience with user-centered design principles, including conducting user research and usability testing. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus, enabling effective communication with web developers. Excellent visual design skills, including a keen eye for aesthetics, typography, and layout. Ability to work effectively in a team, communicating design ideas and receiving feedback constructively. Passion for the mission of supporting first-generation college students and making education accessible.
