What will I be doing?
Assists and acts in the absence of the Director of Engineering to oversee the functionality and safety of the facility, including the physical buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical system/s, heating and cooling systems, life safety systems and grounds in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Assists in directing general construction and the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical and architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
Assigns, verifies and documents the completion of all routine maintenance and repairs in the property maintenance management system.
Communicates with city/county/state officials to ensure the proper maintenance of permits and licenses, to coordinate required inspections and to ensure full compliance with codes, regulations and safety standards to protect the well-being of all guests and team members.
Assists in the execution of capital projects and property rehabilitations.
Assists in interviews, trains, supervises, counsels, schedules and evaluates staff. Other core functions of the position, include but are not limited to:
Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing personalized service to hotel guests
Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members
Ensure maintenance of tools and equipment in safe working condition
Maintain records of types and frequency of maintenance
Make approved purchases of supplies, equipment and services
Maintain inventory
Conduct regular safety inspections of the property

Must have experience operating high pressure Steam Boilers, Chillers, HVAC systems - mandatory
Engineering degree/diploma preferred or journeyman
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills: highly organized, results oriented with the ability to be flexible, and to work well under pressure, strong level of initiative required
Strong technical abilities with Microsoft programs and familiarization with computerized maintenance systems an asset
Leads by example by displaying a high standard of performance with the ability to communicate these expectations to the team to achieve above expectation results
Must be highly safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment throughout the Hotel
Experience in a unionized labor setting an asset
Previous leadership experience in a similar role required
Proven ability to oversee multiple projects with a focus on results
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
Highly responsible and reliable with exceptional attention to details
Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
