Ellipsis Labs
Software Engineer Campus (Intern & New Grad)
Ellipsis Labs is a profitable, venture-backed New York-based startup building differentiated products and infrastructure in decentralized finance. The company is the developer of Phoenix, the leading order book spot exchange on the Solana blockchain, and a top 10 DEX (decentralized exchange) with >$70B in volume since inception in 2023. Additionally, we are one of the most active and prominent on-chain market makers in crypto. All roles are in the Ellipsis Labs office in New York City. Ellipsis Labs is seeking a Software Engineer Campus (Intern & New Grad) to join our team. As an early-stage startup, we appreciate bright generalists who can iterate and ship quickly. In this role, you will: Build and maintain scalable production services with mentorship from senior engineers. Today we handle thousands of QPS; future systems need to scale by an order of magnitude. Implement and extend performance tooling and observability, profiling at the micro- and nanosecond level where it matters. Contribute to ambitious initiatives (e.g., real-time data indexing at scale) from specification and design through implementation, testing, monitoring, and maintenance, owning scoped projects end-to-end. Qualifications Required Hands-on experience building software (courses, personal projects, research, or internships) in Rust, C++, C, or another low-level language; you write clear, tested code Solid Unix/Linux fundamentals (shell, processes, files, basic networking) Strong CS foundations (data structures, concurrency, systems thinking) Ability to make informed trade-offs with business context; high agency and a team-first mindset Curiosity about DeFi (prior domain experience not required) Preferred Experience or coursework in distributed systems, networking, OS, compilers, or low-latency systems. Familiarity with blockchain technology (Solana a plus). Interest or experience in quant trading/fintech. Rust proficiency. This posting covers both Intern (1012 weeks) and New Grad (full-time) tracks. Indicate your preference when you apply.
