Director of Engineering
with multi-property oversight experience to join our leadership team and help drive operational excellence, strategic capital planning, and sustainability initiatives across our hotels.
CURRENT HOTEL LOCATIONS : Cupertino, CA: Aloft Cupertino, Corporate Office; Mountain View, CA: Shashi Hotel; Palo Alto, CA: The Nest Palo Alto; San Jose, CA: Aloft San Jose Cupertino; and Sunnyvale, CA: Aloft Sunnyvale.
Responsibilities
Lead engineering operations across a portfolio of hotel properties.
Oversee compliance with brand standards, fire/life/safety regulations, and local building codes.
Collaborate with senior leadership to implement regional engineering strategies.
Manage capital improvement projects, renovations, and energy efficiency initiatives.
Serve as the technical point of contact for property owners and asset managers.
Support new hotel openings, conversions, and Property Improvement Plans (PIPs).
Mentor and develop senior-level engineering staff.
Monitor performance, drive accountability, and ensure operational excellence.
Provide regular updates to the VP of Operations on engineering metrics and project timelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
HVAC, plumbing, pool, mechanical, and electrical certifications.
10+ years of engineering leadership experience, with a focus on multi-location hospitality or hotel management.
Proven success managing CAPEX projects and delivering ROI.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for owner and cross-functional collaboration.
Deep understanding of building systems, energy management, and FLS compliance.
Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
Strong financial and project management skills.
Must be fluent in English; Spanish bilingual a plus.
Must be willing to work as needed and travel to support the various properties.
