Volt is immediately hiring a General Maintenance Tech - 1st Shift in Fontana, CA. Job Title: General Maintenance Tech - 1st Shift Location: Fontana, CA Job Duration : 12+ months Shift Timings: 8 am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday Job Summary: Working under minimal supervision as a member of a self-directed work team, this is a multi-craft position that may perform equipment repairs and general non-licensed maintenance work, as well as support other licensed trades as directed. Requires good working knowledge of general maintenance, including minor duties in carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical. The General Maintenance Technician must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General Maintenance of equipment will also be required. Responsibilities: Perform routine maintenance and minor building, painting, and alteration projects. Maintain electrical lighting, HVAC, and generator systems. Adjust, maintain, and repair exterior and interior doors and locks. Inspect and test fire protection systems. Maintain plumbing fixtures and repair restroom facilities. Install and reconfigure office workstations, repair furniture and woodwork. Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on dock doors and dock levelers. Perform basic repairs on facility equipment and internal building structures (walls, doors, ceilings, floors). Re-lamp internal/external light fixtures and maintain security cameras. Follow safety guidelines including job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE usage. Operate, maintain, and repair facility equipment per company standards. Analyze equipment failures and maintain building-related equipment. Perform preventative maintenance inspections. Develop and implement planned maintenance procedures. Maintain spare parts inventory and communicate consumption to stock personnel. Assist in installing and inspecting new equipment and servicing installations. Support coworkers, contractors, vendors, project managers, and engineers. Comply with all regulations, codes, standards, and safety practices. Use CMMS to perform scheduled preventive maintenance. Respond to work orders and ensure compliance with codes and standards. Operate measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments for energy efficiency. Use hand tools, laptops, and diagnostic hardware to perform tasks. Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility for customer needs. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor. Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. 1+ year experience maintaining dock doors/dock equipment. 2+ years experience in commercial or warehouse facility maintenance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry). Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet using aerial or scissor lifts. Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. May require a valid Driver’s License. Ability to obtain a security access badge at client location. May require working various shifts, weekends, and alternative schedules. Physical Requirements: Repetitive wrist movement. Extensive walking throughout facilities. Climbing ladders, stairs, and roof access. Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, and move in tight spaces. Ability to differentiate wire colors. Read and understand documents and computer screens. Operate office equipment and computer keyboards. Attend meetings and travel locally or by air as needed. Communicate effectively via phone and in-person. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Move light to medium weight materials. Maintain professionalism under stress. Special Requirements: Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE. Cope with job-related stressors while maintaining performance and professionalism.
