Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator and leader to serve in the anticipated probationary position of Director of Special Education and 504 Services beginning December 1, 2025.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of PPS, the Director of Special Education and 504 services will implement, administer and maintain the school district's services. Provide vision and direction for special education and 504 programs aligned with district goals and student success while maintaining compliance with applicable law to promote a school environment conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning.

Knowledge, Skills, Duties and Abilities: Assists in the development and administration of the school district's special education programs and 504 accommodations Supervises the CSE and 504 process, which includes the supervision of district CSE Chairpersons and chairing meetings as needed. Responsible for creating an annual budget, in consideration of student needs as well as being fiscally responsible. Complete the 611 and 619 grant applications annually. Oversee and maximize Medicaid reimbursement for services provided. Collaborate with building administrators and general education staff to support inclusive practices and ensure accommodations and services are effectively implemented. Oversees the CSE process including collaboration with administrators and teaching staff and regular review of IEP implementation. Supervises the 504 process including collaborating with administrators and teaching staff as needed and ensuring 504's are implemented. Monitor compliance with IDEA, Section 504, ADA, and relevant state laws; lead district responses to audits, complaints, state indicators, and due process hearings. Supervises, observes and evaluates staff. Reviews, approves and coordinates all outside placements for the school district. Works to consider student return to district, when appropriate. Ensure that student records are maintained and secured to ensure accurate information, reporting capabilities, and confidentiality in accordance with applicable laws. Collaborates with building leaders to oversee the assignment of students into special education supports and programs. Promotes a district environment conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning. Meets with students, parents, and related school personnel regarding student needs. Assists with special service transportation issues. Keeps other school district staff informed of changes in laws or regulations in areas of responsibility. Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding special education, students, and staff, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, IDEA, and FERPA. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues/faculty. Collaborates with Special Education and parents, to create and implement initiatives, presentations, and celebrations of students with disabilities in the community. Qualifications Profile:

Required: NYS SDL/SBL Certification Experience as a special education teacher or school psychologist preferred

Highly Competitive Salary between $200,000 and $220,000 reflective of experience.
