Elementary School Vice Principal

Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the Elementary School Principal, the Vice Principal assists in providing educational leadership and supervision to support a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment for all students. The Vice Principal supports the development and implementation of instructional programs, fosters a collaborative school culture, and ensures adherence to Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, and applicable laws.

The Vice Principal also acts as the school leader in the absence of the Principal. Essential Functions Assists in the development and implementation of instructional and extracurricular programs that support the academic, social, and emotional growth of elementary students. Provides leadership in curriculum planning, classroom instruction, and continuous school improvement. Promotes a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment conducive to learning and development. Supports the creation of class schedules and the coordination of school-wide events and activities. Ensures compliance with Board policies, school procedures, and state/federal education regulations. Participates in the evaluation of instructional practices and student performance data to improve teaching and learning outcomes. Encourages and supports ongoing professional development and growth for faculty and staff. Collaborates with teachers and support staff to implement effective behavior management strategies and supports for students. Assists in the hiring process, orientation, and mentoring of new staff. Communicates effectively with parents, guardians, and the community to foster strong partnerships and increase family involvement. Oversees student attendance, discipline, and behavior interventions in accordance with district policies. Conducts staff evaluations, provides constructive feedback, and supports performance improvement plans as needed. Participates in budget planning and resource allocation to ensure alignment with instructional priorities. Understanding of elementary-level curriculum, instructional strategies, and child development. Knowledge of effective behavior management practices and student support systems. Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive education practices. Proficiency in data analysis to inform instructional decisions and interventions. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to support and motivate staff while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws and regulations. Technological proficiency in relevant educational and administrative software. Work Environment and Physical Demands Work is performed in a standard school environment. Must be able to meet the physical and mental demands of working with young children in an active school setting. Equipment Used Standard office and school equipment, including computer, printer, copier, and telephone. Travel Requirements Occasional travel to district meetings, professional development, and school-related events. Qualifications Profile

Certification/License: Valid New Jersey Administrative Certification (i.e., Principal or Supervisor Certificate) New Jersey Teaching Certificate in elementary or related area Valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation Education:

Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, School Administration, or related field required Additional coursework or advanced degree (e.g., Doctorate or Sixth-Year Certificate) preferred Experience:

Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level Experience in curriculum planning, student support services, and teacher supervision Demonstrated leadership ability and knowledge of elementary education best practices
