is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a

General Clerk 4

position, grade G12, in the

Record Maintenance/Absentee Division. About the Position This is a senior-level clerical work, providing key support to the Record Maintenance Division where the incumbent may lead and train personnel. Incumbents in this position are considered an "Essential Employee," during an election cycle. The election cycle begins three (3) months prior to an election and one (1) month following the election. As an "Essential Employee," you will not be authorized to take a leave of absence, and you will be required to work specified weekends and holidays. The incumbent in this position must be able to lift and carry supplies/equipment up to fifty (50) pounds and must have excellent computer, data entry and analytical skills. The incumbent must submit to and pass a criminal background check. About the Agency

The mission of the Prince George's County Board of Elections is to promote voter education, administer an efficient voting process, maintain an accurate voter registration database, and ensure that elected officials are elected in accordance with Federal, State, and County election laws. The Board of Elections is responsible for the supervision of elections, voter registration and record keeping, and the administration of election laws in Prince George's County, in accordance with The Election Law Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The Board and the Election Administrator seek to provide voter registration to every County citizen who wants it.

Examples of Work Receives, processes, files and disseminates voter registration applications, absentee ballot applications, and various other registration & election records. Removes voters from registration roll based on information obtained from various legally mandated agencies. Reviews and edits data preparing it for entry into MD Voters. Conducts data entry. Proofreads data entry.as needed. Drafts routine letters, memoranda, reports, etc. for management using various software applications. Conducts batch management/system configuration. Responsible for mailing out letters from batch management and returned mail. Greets visitors, answers inquiries, screens customer complaints; advises citizens of various provisions of election law. Trains voter registration volunteers. Assists in preparation and distribution of Election Day materials. Serves as lead operator on Election Day to assist judges in the field. Processes absentee ballots and provisional ballots. Assists with maintaining accurate voter registration records by researching and analyzing complex voter registration data to determine the voter's status. Analyzes, compiles and tabulates data and prepares related reports. Assists with/conducts election related audits. Qualifications

Must have experience at the General Clerk III level equal to the six (6) month probationary period. or

One (1) year of education above the high school level which includes coursework in computer data entry, secretarial subjects or business administration. Six (6) months of experience performing diverse clerical tasks. Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience

may

The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services). New employees must enroll in the County's health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.

The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the

beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.

After enrolling in the County's benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and/or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
