POSITION OVERVIEW

The MAP Dean of Student Success provides fair, reasonable, and consistent student discipline within the school by assisting students in establishing high standards of conduct and providing recommendations for conflict resolution. The MAP Dean provides support and guidance to ensure that all students make academic and social-emotional learning gains and advance to high school. The MAP Dean assists in the learning, coaching, and mentoring of students, supports teachers and counselors in their daily activities, maintains a climate conducive to teaching and learning, certifies compliance with all school, district, and company policies and procedures, and ensures all defined school goals are met/exceeded. As the MAP expands to other locations, this position may expand to a regional position with commensurate responsibilities.

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Promote and uphold school and company mission and vision Encourage an environment of student success, collaborating with teachers, support staff, and leadership to develop and implement initiatives to motivate and engage all students Maintain direct and indirect student contact to assess individual social/emotional and behavior modification needs and monitor progress Communicate with parents/guardians and community service agencies Assist teachers, support staff, security, and leadership in ensuring a positive, orderly, and purposeful student learning atmosphere Provide support with data collection/analysis and assist with behavioral observations and write follow-up reports related to student behavior Serve as substitute teacher when the need arises Provide instructional and behavioral coaching to individual students or groups of students Develop and implement behavior interventions in and out of the classroom Provide guidance and support with student and school performance progress data collection, analysis, and representation utilizing school/company Student Management System (SMS) Plan and organize the school administration of all District-wide assessments Provide training to all teachers regarding appropriate test administration procedures Collaborate with school colleagues to ensure proper preparation for assessment administration Accurately distribute, manage, and return all assessment materials Attend school district test administration and interpretation workshops Maintain accurate test administration records (e.g., absences, invalidations, etc.) Report any assessment irregularities to the principal and District testing director Assist with student arrival and dismissal procedures to build sound working relationships with students and provide a welcoming atmosphere Participate in orientation sessions to acclimate new students in a positive manner Serve as transition leader for students matriculating to our high school or back to district school. Ensure students in need of personal/social service supports connect with appropriate services through the student service department Assist Principal in all initiatives to ensure school meets defined FTE enrollment, retention, attendance, and advancement goals Design and/or deliver professional development to teachers and staff to develop competencies for student success Collaborate with teachers to create schedules that ensure implementation of social skills instruction to meet the needs of the students Support faculty and staff in short-term crisis management for students when their behavior is a danger to self, others, or property and document via multiple outlets Attend staff meetings and participate in conferences and other training to enhance job performance Seek out professional development opportunities and maintain professional licensure and certifications Maintain positive communication with colleagues, community members, parents, and students to promote an increase in community engagement with MAP Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement by valuing learning and making a commitment to quality Perform all other duties as deemed necessary, which are aligned in accordance with company policies and procedures, to ensure that student educational and behavioral goals and objectives are achieved while communicating company mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures effectively to students, parents, and the larger community

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of the principles of secondary education Previous experience working with at-risk youth and young adults Knowledge of and experience with PBIS, Restorative justice, research-based behavior modification practices Knowledge of innovative curriculum and instructional methods and application Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and stakeholders Knowledge of and ability to work in a technology rich environment Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; analytical, mathematical, organizational, and prioritization skills; flexibility and adaptability in dealing with rapidly changing priorities and demands. Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES:

Bachelor's degree in education; Master's degree preferred Three (3) years of demonstrated experience in teaching and/or working at-risk youth and students Valid Florida teaching certificate Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
