Responsibilities

Serves as a leader in the conceptualization, development, management, and review of university and presidential events. The incumbent will propose and develop events to meet the strategic engagement goals of the university. The responsibilities associated with the leadership of these events include: researching successful events at other institutions to propose new or refine existing events at FSU; creatively and efficiently planning assigned or proposed events; building and maintaining partnerships with relevant units; developing cost-efficient budgets and ensuring appropriate resource assignments; engaging needed vendors completing required activities; drafting and sharing briefing memos; managing registration systems; developing event collateral; engaging university partners to manage successful events; providing on-site management; completing all financial and operational close-outs; utilizing a continuous improvement review process; and all other activities to ensure a successful event. Meets regularly with the Office of the President and Office of the Provost to ensure executive leadership is fully briefed on upcoming engagement activities. Supports the Office of the President for planning and management of University Board of Trustees meetings. Serves on the leadership team for university convocations and commencements. This includes multiple Spring, Summer and Fall commencement ceremonies, doctoral hooding and conferral ceremonies, convocations, Cord & Coin ceremonies, and other related events. The responsibilities include: 1) partnering with the University Registrar in a shared management of the large, complex events; 2) ensuring all ceremony participants are scheduled and trained, 3) coordinating with all vendors; 4) drafting and presenting ceremonial scripts; 5) providing on-site support; 6) providing primary management of doctoral and convocation ceremonies; 7) maintaining year-round engagement with key stakeholders; 8) managing collaborative partnerships to plan a comprehensive engagement strategy for student/recent graduate engagement; and 9) all other activities requiring the event manager to ensure successful commencement and convocation exercises. Provides support to the Office of the Provost for faculty awards and recognition events. Directly supervises event staff within the Office of University Relations. This includes hiring, job assignments, performance reviews, and training. Additionally, the incumbent will represent the Office of University Relations, and through assignment to the Office of the President and the Office of the Provost, on multiple university wide committees and workgroups, including but not limited to, the event proposal committee, the homecoming committee, the family weekend committee, the gameday operations committee, the alumni partners group, and the institutional events committee. Participates as a member of the University Relations leadership team by supporting, as appropriate, activities, meetings and events managed by the office. Participates in all large-scale events and activities, including gameday operations during football games and assigned basketball games. Serves as the primary manager of the President's Suite at the Donald. L. Tucker Civic Center. Ensures all necessary briefing materials are completed, reviewed, and submitted. Directly staffs the President, First Lady, Provost, Vice President for Research, and other senior officials during engagement activities. Manages other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to eight years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate. Valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
