SCHEDULE:
24 hours, Sunday - Tuesday, 5:00am-8:00am & 3:00pm-8:00pm,
The Driver is an essential position- shifts may vary; include holiday Pays $22.41 per hour This position carries a retention payment of $3,000.00, $1,000.00 payable at 12 months, and $2,000.00 at 24 months LOCATION:
1 Lingard St., Dorchester, MA Summary of the Position The Driver will perform scheduled and unscheduled driving assignments; transport guests from the Mens Inn to Holy Family Inn or other locations as needed; assist with projects and services as directed by Shift Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor; model appropriate behavior and conflict resolution in front of guest, staff and the general public at all times. The Driver will work closely with supervisors and team members to keep Pine Street Inn van(s) clean, provide a safe and secure environment for residents & program members, and always drive to encourage a safe and pleasant ride for everyone. The Driver will do runs from Shattuck Shelter to others city shelters as needed. The HFI Driver would need to be flexible to work at other PSI shelter locations; and perform supportive responsibilities as assigned on days that they are scheduled, while the Holy Family Program is closed for that shift. The program Supervisor and Shelter Director will work together to determine which shelter would be assigned based on coverage needs Responsibilities
Maintain and operate a 15 passenger van; ensure safety and compliance with driving regulations Transport guests between shelters and locations as assigned Assist with projects and services as directed by supervisors Model appropriate behavior and conflict resolution with guests, staff, and the public Keep vehicles clean and report any maintenance needs Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING: High School Diploma or GED Valid Massachusetts drivers license with an acceptable driving record Must be able to read English satisfactorily KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of six (6) months of work experience in human services Must have basic technical skills, and the ability to use Windows 2007 programs PHYSICAL ABILITIES/SKILLS: Ability to operate a 15 passenger van Ability to stand for long periods of time Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds Frequent bending, stooping for extended periods of time Must feel comfortable driving for long periods of time, sometimes in excess of four (5) hours per day Preferred
CPR, First Aid, CPI certifications Previous experience driving a 15 passenger van
