Ops Staff Assistant
The Ops Staff Assistant position will be an in-office position in the Tallahassee office and will assist in performing tasks related to the completion of U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) deliverables under the Federal/State Cooperative agreement for the Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) program. Perform clerical duties such as data entry, logging and distributing mail, filing, faxing, and other clerical related tasks as needed to assist in the collection of OEWS survey responses from a sample of establishments provided by BLS. Receiving and routing telephone calls and emails and facilitating responses to requests for information. Stays informed of cooperating federal and state agencies' contact information, duties and services each provides. Perform other duties as assigned to assist other units in the Bureau. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of office procedures and practices. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Familiar with document scanning. Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous and effective manner. Ability to operate general office equipment. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to organize files/records and maintain records management systems. Qualifications: As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. Minimum: Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department. Preferred: Telephone etiquette, One year of secretarial, clerical, or administrative support work as experience, Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiar with document scanning. This position is critical to meeting contract deliverables with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and provides clerical and administrative support duties. This position involves operating a computer and other office equipment utilizing various computer softwqare programs in the preparation of administrative reports, documents, and correspondence. OPS Staff Assistant maintains all files and records of office correspondence, documents, reports, and other materials.
