Overview

The George Washington University Hospitals Medical-Surgical Rehabilitation Department is seeking a Neurologic / Critical Care Clinical Specialist to join our acute care rehab team full-time. GW Hospital is a 385 bed Level 1 Trauma Center, Academic Medical Center, and Comprehensive Stroke Center located in the heart of Washington, DC. GW offers clinical expertise and world-class care in a variety of areas including cardiac, cancer, neuroscience, critical care, trauma, womens health, organ and tissue transplant, and advanced surgical techniques. Our medical-surgical rehabilitation professionals work in every area of the hospital providing consultation, evaluation, treatment, and education services to patients, families, and other caregivers in order to improve patient function, outcomes, and discharge. Responsibilities The Neurologic/Critical Care Clinical Specialist will be responsible for programmatic development and quality improvement initiatives related to the rehabilitation of the critically ill and patients suffering acute neurologic dysfunction. The Neurologic/Critical Care Clinical Specialist will ensure best-practice approaches to the rehabilitation of these patients in the acute care setting and will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapy. The Neurologic/Critical Care Clinical Specialist is a member of the rehab department leadership team and may be responsible for the supervision and oversight of junior clinicians, ensuring their mentorship, development, and compliance with departmental guidelines The Neurologic/Critical Care Clinical Specialist will carry a primarily neurologic or critical care patient caseload and will share these coverage duties with a PT or OT counterpart, on a rotating basis. The Neurologic/Critical Care Clinical Specialist will collaborate with leadership on patient care dashboards and other areas of data analysis and performance improvement for outcome maximization.

Qualifications

Bachelors in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology required Masters degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology required 5 years experience in practice area of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology and/or specialty certification
