This role is critical in ensuring the efficient transportation of lumber, hardware, and building materials using commercial fork trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles. The CDL Driver will be responsible for loading, securing, and delivering materials while adhering to DOT and FMCSA safety regulations to ensure compliance and road safety. Key Responsibilities: Delivery & Transportation: Safely operate fork trucks and other commercial vehicles to transport lumber and building materials to customer locations and job sites. Load Securement: Ensure all materials are properly secured using straps and other proper load securing techniques per FMCSA cargo securement guidelines. Material Handling: Assist in loading and unloading materials using approved safety procedures and mechanical equipment as needed. The fork trucks are equipped with moffetts for jobsite deliveries. Compliance & Safety: Follow all DOT and FMCSA regulations, including hours-of-service requirements, vehicle inspection protocols, and safe driving practices. Route Planning: Optimize delivery routes to minimize delays and increase efficiency. Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections as required by DOT standards, reporting maintenance concerns promptly. Documentation: Maintain accurate delivery logs, trip records, and necessary compliance paperwork. Customer Interaction: Provide professional service, assist customers with material unloading, and verify order accuracy. Team Collaboration: Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse teams, and yard personnel to ensure smooth delivery operations. Qualifications & Skills: Licensing: Valid CDL Class A or B license required. Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of DOT, FMCSA, and cargo securement regulations. Experience: Previous experience operating fork trucks and heavy-duty delivery vehicles preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in outdoor environments. Safety Awareness: Strong knowledge of commercial driving laws, truck operation protocols, and workplace safety procedures. Customer Service: Professional and courteous approach when interacting with customers and job site personnel. Organizational Skills: Ability to manage delivery schedules, track orders, and maintain proper documentation.
