ICF is seeking a Substation Senior Project Engineer to support the design of high voltage substations. This individual will join our collaborative design team comprised of engineers, designers, and drafting technicians with the goal of delivering excellent quality design engineering and deliverables for our clients. What You Will Be Doing

This position will lead and manage a multi-discipline team in the development of engineering substation designs on high voltage substation projects in the Baltimore area, with the purpose of delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality engineering and design services. Create complete IFC designs across substation disciplines: physical, protection & control, studies, relay settings, SCADA, civil, and structural Develop and review design deliverables (structure drawings, foundation drawings, physical arrangement, physical plans, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, layouts, bills of material, etc.) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards Perform engineering studies and calculations (short-circuit analysis, load flow, relay settings, grounding, illumination, harmonics, etc.) to ensure reliable, efficient substation operations Coordinate with substation designers and drafters to translate engineering requirements into construction-ready drawings Review vendor drawings and specs, ensuring proper equipment selection (transformers, breakers, relays, etc.) Stay current with evolving standards, implementing best practices for safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness Participate in client meetings and perform site visits for data gathering as required Coordinate with internal and external partners including cross-discipline, construction, vendors, fabricator(s), and owners to address structural-related issues or concerns including constructability reviews and construction RFIs Provide thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management Continuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance Additional Responsibilities

Bachelor’s degree in engineering At least 10 years of professional engineering experience in the power industry (specific to HV substation design) 8+ years of experience using electrical engineering analysis software, AutoCAD or equivalent Preferred Skills

Knowledge of the National Electric Code and various Standard Industry Codes Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) Excellent written and verbal communication and organization skills Preferred: Professional Engineering License Experience leading a team of substation engineers to bring a project from concept to completion Experience in substation deliverable packages of 30/60/90/IFC designs and construction support Ability to prioritize work while working on multiple projects Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Familiarity with Substation 3D modelling and AutoCad Electrical design Knowledge of substation design principles Pay Range

$118,730.00/yr - $201,840.00/yr Location
