The primary function of this position is to serve as a primary student resource, admissions manager, and recruiter for undergraduate students for the Springfield Regional Program at the UIC College of Nursing. Duties & Responsibilities: Advising

Advises Springfield Campus Undergraduate BSN Students, including newly admitted undergraduates. Provides academic counseling/advice for a cadre of undergraduate students. Coordinates student enrollment for each semester, including processing course permits, completing and routing concurrent registration forms, and working with faculty on registration questions or issues. Facilitates course withdrawals, adds, drops, LOAs, Upper Division Electives, course approvals, and other academic-related actions. Maintains updated advising guides and consults with faculty on advising. Coordinates activities related to international student issues. Maintains intent to graduate list. Manages academic file system. Facilitates student retention by assisting students to solve program/university related issues, e.g., encumbrances, tuition issues, etc.; facilitation of campus resources for CON students (OAR, Student Accounts, etc.); working with faculty/staff in identification of appropriate services for students at all levels. New Student Activity Coordination

Oversees preparation of graduate and undergraduate new student files. Organizes and conducts graduate and undergraduate orientation sessions. Provides initial academic advice to newly admitted undergraduate students. Oversees initial immunization, background checks, and drug screens and ensures data are entered in appropriate database. Enters initial program plan for undergraduates into software. Answers questions about and locates advanced placement tests for new undergraduates. Admissions

Assist with the establishment and implementation of admission criteria and oversee the campus admission and application process, manage application materials. Oversee application processing for undergraduates and graduate students. Participates in CON Applicant review process. Creates and maintains current listing of admitted students. Ensures application mailings or distribution. Recruiting

Maintains advising guides and transfer information for other schools and software/transferology. Works with potential applicants for pre-requisite completion via phone, email, meeting, and meets with drop-in inquiries. Conducts Information Sessions and how to Apply Sessions. Coordinates content and assembly of information/application packets through/with office staff. Works with University campus units to secure non-nursing prerequisite courses and maintains updated information regarding non-nursing course schedules for advisors. Processes course approvals for transfer courses. Coordinates and developed recruitment activities/strategies and materials with director and UIC CON OAP and seeks out and attends recruitment activities, college fairs, etc. Academic Events and Committees

Plan for, coordinate, and implement College Career Fair activities. Manage College of Nursing Open Houses for all programs. Support Student committees as advisor including UHP, SNA, and with Director for Student Council. Serve on College OAP committees, convocation committee, Admissions and Academic Standards committees, and other committees as assigned. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Additional education or other formal training in an area of specialization inherent to the position may be required. Demonstrated work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.
