One of the largest global insurance brokers is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Enterprise Data & Analytics Infrastructure team. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Chicago, IL. The company is modernizing its data ecosystem with Google Cloud Platform and Terraform, making it a veryideal opportunity for an engineer passionate about cloud-native solutions and large-scale enterprise data initiatives. This role is more than just pipelines and queriesits about leading transformation. Youll help decommission legacy systems, establish modern CI/CD practices, and build data products that fuel analytics and machine learning initiatives. This opportunity is exciting because you will play a critical role in shaping a cloud-first environment at massive enterprise scale, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to innovation across the organization. Required Skills & Experience
715 years of progressive experience in data engineering or analytics infrastructure Strong hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataform, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage) Proficiency with Terraform for IaC across GCP environments Advanced SQL, star/snowflake schema modeling, and ELT pipeline development Experience with Python and frameworks like DBT Strong understanding of CI/CD practices (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, Terraform Cloud) Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences Desired Skills & Experience
Familiarity with Vertex AI, Cloud Notebooks, or other ML platforms Experience with visualization tools (Looker, Looker Studio, or similar) Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and lineage (Dataplex) Relevant certifications (Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, Cloud Architect, Terraform Associate) Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field What You Will Be Doing
Tech Breakdown: 80% GCP Data Engineering (BigQuery, Dataform, Composer, etc.) 20% Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CI/CD, Cloud Build) Daily Responsibilities
