Job Summary:
In 2018, Freedom Outboard started with the idea of creating a revolutionary outboard motor with a sleek and natural design that can function in any location or condition. The Assembly Mechanic is a new position that will be an essential part of the company and its growth, responsible for the fit and assembly of our proprietary engines, shipping and receiving, and supporting our operations team.
Pay Range: $18 - $28 per hour
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assembles motors and subassemblies of motor parts
- Reads and analyzes blueprints and specifications.
- Modifies blueprints by hand, if needed, and communicates changes to Project Management and Engineering.
- Inspects fabricated details against blueprint tolerances to verify conformance.
- Examines fabricated and purchased components for fit, form and function when assembling.
- Makes alterations to fabricated and purchased components, as needed, utilizing tool room equipment.
- Assembles fabricated and purchased components quickly and accurately.
- Lays out hole locations and drills and taps holes on parts for assembly.
- Aligns components for assembly and bolts, screws and dowels parts together.
- Qualifies all motions for alignment, tolerance, repeatability and function based on customer specifications.
- Debugs motors and logic functionality.
- Maintains stock inventory
- Assists in the test process of the motors.
- Responsible for proper packaging and shipping of the motors.
- Required to travel.
- Maintains a clean work area.
- Observe safety procedures including but not limited to wearing proper hearing and vision protection and safety footwear.
- Other duties as necessary when requested by management within Federal and State regulations for the position.
Education And/Or Experience:
- High School degree or GED
- 2-5 years experience as a Machinist and/or Tool Maker
- Assembly experience (preferred)
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Mechanical aptitude (required)
- Effective verbal/written communication
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures
- Skilled at blueprint reading and GD &T
