POSITION DESCRIPTION The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for a full- or part-time faculty members in the Professor of Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank in geriatrics. Faculty in the Clinical X series is expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are expected to engage in teaching, professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative activities, and University/public service. The Palliative Faculty Member responsibilities include or outpatient clinical care; teaching medical students, residents, and fellows; university/public service; and regular attendance at scheduled meetings and CME activities. The incumbents should be able to provide expert clinical care in the field of palliative medicine. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a diverse group of colleagues depending on clinical area of focus. Multidisciplinary collaboration is expected for consultative palliative practice. The faculty member’s clinical scope at minimum will be expected to provide: Provide 4-8 0.5 day clinics per week in the Cancer Center 0.5 day per week administrative time for clinic responsibilities 0.5 day per week to participate in Palliative Care initiatives within the health system as agreed upon within the medical director of Palliative Care Expected to help cover 3-6 Saturdays per year on the adult impatient care consult service This includes seeing new consults and any urgent follow up with patients that are currently being followed by the Palliative Care team Participate in hospital wide Palliative Care committee meetings quarterly Participate in didactic and education of Palliative Care fellows Participate in any additional ad hoc administrative, strategic, and educational program and initiatives that align with division and department goals. Those in the Clinical X series are expected to have a scholarly work portfolio which includes research supported by grant funding and a publication record commensurate with rank. Board certified in Internal Medicine and board certified (or board eligible) in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Eligible or currently licensed to practice medicine in California. Demonstrated experience in outpatient and/or inpatient palliative care, with strong skills in symptom management, serious illness communication, and complex care coordination. Experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, nurses, psychologists, and oncologists. Interest or experience in medical education, quality improvement, and/or clinical research, especially within an academic health system Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive care and improving access and outcomes for diverse patient populations. Additional qualifications (required at time of start) Experience working with cancer patients or in an oncology setting is highly desirable.
