Locums - General Surgery - Pendleton, Oregon

Typical Weekly Schedule (expected of locums, with mutually agreed variation as needed)

Monday:

  • 8:00a-5:00p: Clinic (14-16 patients)

  • On call 24/7 (clinic hours + overnight until 7:30a Tuesday)

Tuesday:

  • 7:30a-12:00p: OR Surgeries

  • 1:00p-5:00p: Clinic (10-12 patients)

  • On call 24/7 (clinic hours + overnight until 7:30a Wednesday)

Wednesday:

  • 7:30a-4:00p: OR Surgeries

  • On call 24/7 (clinic hours + overnight until 7:30a Thursday)

Thursday:

  • 7:30a-12:00p: OR Surgeries

  • 1:00p-5:00p: Clinic (10-12 patients)

  • On call 24/7 (clinic hours + overnight until 7:30a Friday)

Friday:

  • 7:30a-4:00p: OR Surgeries

  • On call 24/7 (clinic hours + overnight until 7:30a Saturday)

Saturday:

  • On call 7:30a-7:30a Sunday

Sunday:

  • On call 7:30a-5:30a Monday

  • Handoffs occur at 5:30a to remaining general surgeon in Pendleton

Case Volume & Patient Details

  • Surgeries: 500 per year ( 10/week, 75% outpatient)

  • Clinic: 14-16 patients/day (Mon & Thu), 10-12 patients/day (Tue & Thu pm)

  • Inpatient Admissions: 2 per week

Required Procedures

  • Diagnostic Colonoscopies & Screening Colonoscopies

  • Diagnostic EGD

  • Cholecystectomy

  • Hernia repair with mesh

  • Abdominal wall repair with synthetic substitute

  • Appendectomy

  • Excision of breast

  • Skin Excision

  • Hemorrhoidectomy

Candidate Requirements

  • Board Certified - Required

  • Active OR License - Required

  • Fellowship - Required

  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, DEA - Required

  • Clean Malpractice - Preferred

  • Must be able to respond to traumas in the ED

Support Staff

  • Full hospital staff

  • Typical clinic support: Medical Assistants and RNs
