Position Overview

Duties:
- Consult ED and inpatient cases
- Collaborate with hospitalists and specialists
- Supervise stress tests (pharmacological/exercise)
- Interpret inpatient & outpatient echocardiograms, Holter, and event monitors
Optional/Ideal Procedures:
- TEE - Ideal
- Transvenous pacing - Optional
- Tilt table interpretation - Optional
Volume:
- 3-4 consults/day
- 4-8 stress tests/day
- 5-12 echos/day
Case Mix: Non-interventional, typical community hospital cardiology cases
Support Staff: Cardiology manager, echocardiographers, cardiology techs
No Cath Lab
ED staffed by Board-Certified Emergency Physicians; cardiologist only called for significant cardiology needs

Candidate Requirements

Active CA License - Required
DEA - Required at credentialing
Clean malpractice background - Highly Preferred
Local candidates (no flights) - Highly Preferred
Certification Requirements:
- Current certification in Internal Medicine and active participation toward ABIM/AOBIM cardiovascular medicine qualification, OR
- Successful completion of accredited fellowship in cardiovascular medicine (3 years minimum)
Hospital Privileges: Must have privileges at a Joint Commission (or equivalent) accredited hospital within 2 of the last 4 years
