This medical center is a well-established Level 3 trauma facility providing comprehensive women's health services to the community. The facility features a dedicated labor and delivery unit with excellent support staff including labor & delivery, postpartum, OR, and ER personnel, as well as on-site lab and ultrasound services.
Opportunity:
Board Certified - OB/GYN Hospitalist
Job Details:
• Provide weekday and weekend OB/GYN hospitalist coverage with flexible 12-hour (8a-8p) or 24-hour (8a-8a) shifts based on preference• Manage both low risk (40%) and high risk (60%) pregnancy cases• Triage and deliver OB patients (average 65-80 deliveries per month)• Respond to ER calls for OB/GYN services• Conduct daily rounding on inpatients• Provide care for unassigned patients (approximately 1 or less per day)• Perform circumcisions if able (not mandatory)• Work with residents who will likely be on call alongside the locum physician• Handle routine vaginal deliveries, low forceps, and decision-making for C-sections• Manage complicated deliveries including C-sections, breech, multiple births, and abruptions• Perform VBAC procedures and repair of 3rd & 4th degree lacerations• Conduct FHR interpretation including NST/CST/FSE• Perform OB ultrasounds (Level I/Screening) and amniocentesis procedures• Provide surgical gynecology services including open procedures, laparoscopic diagnostics, and major operative procedures• Must be board certified with active Iowa license or IMLC eligibility• Fetal monitoring experience required• Documentation system: CERNER• Credentialing timeframe: 30-90 days depending on application speed
