Position Overview
A North Carolina hospital is seeking a board-certified Anesthesiologist to provide locum tenens coverage across inpatient and outpatient surgical settings. This role includes weekday evening/night call, 24-hour weekend call, endoscopy, OB/GYN, and pediatric dental coverage, as well as shared epidural call with CRNAs. Providers must be able to respond quickly for surgical starts and manage emergent airways in the ICU/ER.
Assignment Highlights- Schedule:
- Weekday call: 3:00 PM 7:00 AM (16 hours)
- Weekend call: 24-hour in-house coverage (Sat/Sun)
- Orientation required the day prior to first shift
- Call Details:
- Shared epidural call with 3 CRNAs
- Must be able to initiate surgery within 30 minutes of callback
- Volume & Caseload:
- 150 surgical cases/month + 100 endoscopy cases
- patients/day per anesthesiologist
- 6 admissions/day, 3 admissions/night
- Procedures: General surgery, podiatry, OB/GYN, pediatric dental, pain management
- Facilities:
- 2 operating rooms
- 2-room endoscopy suite
- Dedicated C-section OR
- Additional Duties: Backup for ICU & ER (intubations and spinals)
- Hospital Snapshot:
- 114-bed hospital with 15-bed ED
- 21,000 ED visits annually
- Supported by Air & Ground transport
- EMR: Epic (HealthSpan)
- Agency Note: HPA Healthcare is Joint Commission certified. Travel and lodging prepaid; malpractice fully covered.
- Board Certification in Anesthesiology (required)
- Active NC medical license (or ability to obtain)
- Proficiency with general anesthesia, spinals, and epidurals
- Prior OB/GYN anesthesia experience strongly preferred
- ICU/ER airway management required
