FLSA StatusNon-ExemptJob Role SummaryThe Medical Assistant provides patient care which takes into account patient response to care provided, patient needs, problems, capabilities, limitations, and progress toward goals. Alters activities/behaviors to ensure adequate care appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e., pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric). This Medical Assistant role is with Eskenazi Health's Primary Care FQHC Eskenazi Health Center W38th Street. This clinic is located at 5515 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, 46254. Alters activities/behaviors to ensure adequate care appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e., pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric)Integrates cultural/population specific diversity needs into patient care as well as integrating physiological, psychological and cultural needsMeasures and records vital signs, heights, weights, other parameters including pain assessmentInterviews patient and records history, chief complaint, other findingsCalls prescriptions (except Schedule II medications) to pharmacy for the provider per written ordersPrepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests including EKGsAssists provider with exams and minor office proceduresCollects and processes lab specimens including phlebotomyMonitors follow-up of tests and lab studies done and notifies providerPerforms point-of-care testing, including pertinent quality control testing, documenting resultsPrepares and administers medications (with exceptions per organizational or site-specific guidelines) with provider written orderDemonstrates competence/accountability in the administration of medications, treatments, performing testsChanges/applies dressings, removes sutures, other minor proceduresPerforms CPR when neededAccurately, legibly, legally documents findings, services provided (including medication administration), education/instructions given, completes other required documentationCleans rooms after each patient examAnswers phones/makes phone calls as needed/directedHelps maintain clinic flowOperates standard office equipmentSchedules appointmentsMaintains supplies and equipment (stocking/ordering) including routine stocking of exam roomsAlters activities/behaviors to provide population-specific and age-specific careMaintains required certifications (organizationally and as required by site)Assists with the orientation of other staff members including Medical Assistant ExternsMust sit together with Clinical TeamContactHave questions?
