General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. The Associate may be requested to perform additional tasks in specific situations to achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practices safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assist Customers as needed; be register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet Customers with eye contact and a smile; say "thank you" at every register transaction.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers; respond to Service calls immediately and involve Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks to maintain merchandise, customer and Team areas (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters/mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high-touch areas).
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandising items per guidelines, and maintain brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies and proper processing with Store Leadership for disposals.
  • Follow all cash, check, charge card, and refund procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.
  • Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
  • Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom associates: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
