Summary

Guards campus against fire, theft, vandalism, unsafe conditions, and illegal entry by performing the following duties. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Patrol buildings and grounds of campus periodically.
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure.
  • Ensure that all employees, residents, and visitors follow established policies and procedures.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
  • Monitor for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Sound alarm or call police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property.
  • Respond to resident call bells.
  • Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning machinery or equipment in security log for each shift.
  • In an emergency, may perform simple maintenance duties.
  • Keep entryways and main sidewalks free of ice and snow; coordinate with grounds contractor as necessary.
  • Comply with safety procedures, infection control, and standard precautions.
  • Comply with confidentiality and residents’ rights.
  • Comply with all CARF/CCAC guidelines and standards.
  • Demonstrate awareness of, and respect for, the diversity of people interacted with, including persons served, personnel, families/caregivers, and other stakeholders.

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
