We prioritize innovation, professional growth, and making a real difference in the lives of our customers by helping them reduce costs and increase energy independence. As a Service Electrician on the Residential team, you will play a critical role in maintaining and troubleshooting residential solar PV systems. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and repairing electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting battery storage and EV charging systems. You will ensure all service work complies with safety regulations and electrical codes, communicate directly with homeowners, and uphold high standards of workmanship and system reliability.

In this role, you'll get to:

  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues in residential solar PV systems, including wiring, inverters, service panels, and monitoring equipment

  • Inspect and maintain installed solar components such as modules, inverters, junction boxes, combiner boxes, and disconnects to ensure continued performance and safety

  • Troubleshoot and service battery storage systems and EV chargers, including upgrades and replacements as needed

  • Identify and resolve system performance issues, electrical faults, and code violations

  • Interpret and apply electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and system documentation to guide effective troubleshooting and repairs

  • Perform electrical testing including voltage checks, continuity testing, insulation resistance, and diagnostics of system performance

  • Conduct preventative maintenance and implement solutions to mitigate long-term system degradation or failures

  • Repair or replace damaged wiring, electrical devices, and system components affected by weather, wildlife, or installation defects

  • Install protective equipment such as critter guards, updated sealants, and flashing to prevent future service needs

  • Maintain detailed service records, update system documentation, and complete reports using mobile tools and apps

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners to explain system issues, service actions, and ongoing maintenance needs

  • Collaborate with operations and support teams to report service trends, escalate complex issues, and improve system designs

  • Keep company vehicle clean, stocked, and well-maintained for daily field use

  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure that all service work adheres to company standards, NEC requirements, and local codes

  • Support new system installations or other field tasks when needed to assist overall team and project success

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Valid Journeyman's or Master's License Required

  • Must have at least 2 years of recent residential electrical experience; solar experience is a plus

  • Proficiency in safely handling power and hand tools, as well as materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, and wiring

  • Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, including wiring, assembly, and troubleshooting

  • Ability to identify and resolve basic electrical issues in the field

  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)

  • Capability to climb ladders, work on sloped roofs in all weather conditions, and stand for extended periods

  • Comfort working in attics and confined spaces

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly

  • Proficiency with smartphones and tablets for communication, documentation, and use of job-related applications

  • A strong record of reliable attendance and punctuality

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards on every job

  • Position requires passing a drug screening and background check

  • A valid driver’s license is required for all positions at Lumina
