The Social Worker / Clinician role is responsible for providing clinical intervention at an Article 31 licensed school-based satellite clinic for students enrolled in a high school in Manhattan, as well as offering coverage in our young adult clinic. As part of a therapeutic team within the Agency, the social worker collaborates closely with supervisors and the director to ensure appropriate treatment and the application of best practice clinical interventions.
The social worker is responsible for delivering trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, evidence-based interventions to clients and families; crisis intervention; advocacy; and coordination with other providers involved in the client’s care to optimize treatment outcomes. The role involves regular interactions with school personnel and building strong relationships within the school community.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide trauma-informed, evidence-based, racially & culturally sensitive treatment interventions with children & youth, including their families and support systems. Modalities include play therapy, individual, group, family, and collateral treatments.
- Maintain self-awareness and reflect on how clinical and administrative practices impact clients.
- Be receptive to constructive feedback and open to ongoing learning.
- Approach work with an anti-racist perspective and commit to continuous growth in this area.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Engage in outreach to clients and families to establish and maintain engagement in care.
- Collaborate with school personnel to address client issues and improve outcomes.
- Coordinate care with outside treatment providers and systems to enhance client outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records, including progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, and documentation required by The Jewish Board and licensing/funding entities.
- Participate in supervision, training activities, staff meetings, and clinical team meetings.
- Engage in continuing education and professional development.
