Job Summary
The IT Specialist provides technical support and expertise to ensure reliable and efficient operation of information technology systems at Georgia State University. This position supports faculty, staff, and students by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, managing IT resources, and implementing technology solutions that enhance academic and administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide front-line technical support to end users for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and university-supported applications.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware, operating systems, and software in compliance with university standards.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity, printers, and classroom technology systems.
- Maintain security of IT systems by applying patches, updates, and ensuring compliance with university security policies.
- Assist with the setup, support, and maintenance of audio/visual equipment for classrooms, labs, and events.
- Respond to help desk tickets, document resolutions, and escalate issues as needed.
- Train users on university technology systems, applications, and best practices.
- Collaborate with central IT services and departmental staff to ensure seamless technology support.
- Participate in technology planning, upgrades, and implementation projects.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, software licenses, and technology assets.
