Overview
The Executive Director (ED) will be the chief ambassador and strategic leader of the Greektown Neighborhood Partnership. This individual will be responsible for advancing GNP’s mission by implementing its neighborhood vision, driving programmatic and economic development, and leading day-to-day operations. The ED will report directly to the Board of Directors and will work closely with a diverse array of stakeholders—from local business owners to city officials and philanthropic partners. Major Duties and Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with: Local business and property owners Greektown stakeholders and residents City of Detroit departments (including the Mayor’s Office and DPD) State agencies, corporate partners, and civic organizations Serve as the voice and advocate for Greektown in local and regional conversations about urban development, culture, and community. Program and Event Planning Develop, plan, and execute public programs and community events that activate the neighborhood, support local businesses, and build community. Oversee efforts related to safety, sanitation, public realm improvements, marketing, and historic preservation. Champion and implement elements of the SOM urban planning vision. Project Management Initiate and manage multi-faceted neighborhood initiatives from concept through completion. Prioritize, coordinate, and track the progress of all programs, ensuring they align with GNP’s strategic goals and community needs. Fundraising and Resource Development Identify and pursue funding opportunities through grants, corporate sponsorships, and philanthropic partnerships. Cultivate long-term funding streams to sustain operations and expand organizational capacity. Prepare compelling grant applications and reports in support of organizational goals. Organizational Leadership & Staff Development Lead the organizational growth and hiring strategy in collaboration with the Board. Oversee recruitment and supervision of staff positions including: Marketing & Events Manager Security Manager Facilities Manager Office Administrator Foster a positive, mission-driven environment. Candidates should have professional experience that demonstrates the following: Leadership in one or more of the following sectors: Non-profit management Business administration Community or economic development Urban or neighborhood planning Government relations Events and program management Historic preservation Real estate or property management Skills & Experience: Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams Strong experience in program/event planning and stakeholder coordination Track record of successful fundraising and grant writing • Ability to have a flexible work schedule – some weekend and weeknight will be required during the busy season. Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals from various racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Who You Are
