About the position We are seeking a talented and experienced derivatives lawyer to serve as Associate General Counsel and Vice President at ING Financial Holdings Corp. This role combines strategic legal counsel with ISDA drafting and negotiation acumen and regulatory knowledge in support of the financial markets business in the Americas. Any candidate will need to demonstrate enthusiasm for growing their understanding of other products and areas of legal-focused support. The candidate should be NY law qualified, with a minimum of 5 years of experience at a major law firm or bank

About the department The legal counsel will be a member of the Americas legal team and will report into the senior derivatives counsel within the Americas legal team. In addition, the lawyer will provide ad hoc support on other legal matters falling within the remit of the Americas legal team.

Responsibilities

Provide senior-level legal counsel and strategic guidance to executive leadership

Deep knowledge of derivatives law and regulation with hands-on transactional experience

Lead and oversee complex derivatives transactions, including structuring, documentation, and negotiation and loan-linked transactions.

Draft, review, and negotiate derivatives agreements, including ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, and trade confirmations

Expertise in derivatives product structuring across asset classes (rates, credit, equity, commodity, FX)

Advise on derivatives trading strategies, product development, and risk management frameworks

Oversee legal operations and compliance initiatives across the organization

Ensure advice and documentation meets ING’s policy, risk and regulatory requirements

Regulatory & Compliance

Represent the company in regulatory proceedings and industry initiatives

Experience with CFTC/SEC derivatives regulations and compliance requirements, including swap dealer regulations

Knowledge of margin requirements, central clearing, and trade reporting obligations

International Experience

Experience with global financial institutions and cross-jurisdictional derivatives transactions

Experience with multi-jurisdictional ISDA documentation and netting arrangements

Understanding of international regulatory coordination and extraterritorial application of derivatives rules

Qualifications and Competencies

Top academic credentials

Excellent written and oral communication skills

New York bar admission

Minimum of 5 years of experience at a premier law firm or bank

Strong analytical ability and attention to detail

High integrity – always does the right thing and sets the right tone

Highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic

Desire to work in a high-paced environment

Salary and Benefits Salary Range $185,000-250,000
